Sonoma Orchid Inn indulges you in comfort. Freshly baked treats are placed in the guest kitchen each afternoon. Have a soothing soak in the new hot tub spa under the native oaks. Breathe freely and fully. Sit without interruption inside or out, get toasty in front of the living room fireplace. Comfortable casual clothing and outerwear for cooler mornings and evenings are recommended.
Dana Murphy and Brian Siewert became resident owner-innkeepers of the Sonoma Orchid Inn in 2006. Warm hospitality, locally inspired and seasonally fresh breakfasts, and their tourist-based knowledge of area activities and destinations are their specialty. Both are longtime residents of California’s bay area. Brian was born and raised in the Sacramento area and Dana’s family settled here after his father’s military service ended in 1981. The inn’s interiors are a combination of Randi Kauppi’s ideas combined with pieces that Brian and Dana have collected on their trips through Europe.
The main house, built by Louis E. Ridenhour, celebrated its 100th birthday in 2006. The property has been a bed-and-breakfast inn since 1977. The Ridenhour family from Missouri homesteaded 944 acres on both sides of the Russian River in the mid-19th century, and planted the land mostly with hops and general produce.
Our guest service extends far beyond excellent breakfasts and comfortable beds. If you need dinner recommendations or reservations, tips on hikes or biking, or the perfect little local winery that’s a not-to-be-missed gem, Brian and Dana are here to help make your stay in the Russian River Valley's Wine Country and Sonoma County the best it can be.
Guests can also expect to be welcomed by Brian and Dana’s two Border Terriers, Saffron & Coriander – Saffy and Cori – and by their large Siamese cat, Shannon (after Shannon, Ireland; one of our favorite cities).
